The Kiger Horse are the descendants of the original horses brought over by the conquistadors. They had remained genetically isolated for centuries in the rugged terrain of southeast Oregon, and because of this they retain many Spanish horse traits.
We raise our horses in herd environment so that they learn all the necessary social skills and discipline to be good riding partners. We ensure our foals are halter broke and foot broke, though we wait until four years of age to start under saddle. We want our horses to have long and sound working lives. Our breeding stock are hand picked for exceptional temperament, conformation and movement. They receive top-notch care and nutrition so that they can produce the next generation of outstanding saddle horses.
